GeMedix公司成立于1997年，总部设在英国钮马克特，毗邻剑桥大学。作为以剑桥大学为中心的高科技孵化基地中的一员，公司旨在研发、生产与销售一系列采用DNA重组技术的生物药品（治疗性蛋白质）。我们按照与国际制药标准一致的质量体系，以使我们成为这些生物药品的全球供应商。公司的创始者与董事局主席Dr.KimTan博士，在1995年确立了这一经营理念，在对中国科学院上海生物化学研究所进行科研资助后，现已获得六种生物药品的生产权。
技术
　　公司已取得生产六种生物药品（治疗性蛋白质）的权利，采用的是DNA重组技术—使被重组的细菌、哺乳动物或酵母菌的一个细胞产生一种特定的蛋白质，这种细胞一旦生长，就可大量繁殖，而蛋白质即可被提取和净化，再以商业规模制造分别以不同蛋白质为核心的生物药品。

　　公司的合作伙伴为中国科学院上海生物化学研究所。上海生物化学研究所是中国久负盛名的生命科学研究机构，1958年成立以来，从世界首次人工合成牛胰岛素到研制乙型肝炎基因工程疫苗，硕果累累，被誉为中国生命科学的旗舰。依托上海生物化学研究所强大的科研开发能力，将为GeneMedix的可持续发展奠定坚实的基础。

　　公司在华投资企业为上海东昕生物技术有限公司（SHANGHAI GENEMEDIX BIOTECHNOLOGY CO， LTD）。上海东昕生物技术有限公司坐落于上海浦东张江高科技园区，公司对其的投资金额总计将达到670万英镑（约合7，370万人民币）。上海东昕生物技术有限公司已获国家药品监督管理局的GMP认证，具备一流的生物药品生产能力，投放中国市场的第一个药品将是—GM—CSF（重组人粒细胞--巨噬细胞集落刺激因子），商品名：纽适迪。
GeneMedix公司诞生以来取得了高速发展，其股票分别在伦敦股票交易所和新加坡股票交易所上市，作为第一家在新加坡股票交易所上市的生命科学公司，GeneMedix引起了投资者的广泛兴趣。
　　在2000年，我们聘用了有经验的高层管理人员，扩大了董事会，在上海获得了一个生产基地，迁入了位于萨福克郡钮马克特的新址，并发展了五个新产品。
　　在交易所申请上市时，我们制定了一个详细的发展计划。这包括到2001年上半年结束时，用在中国的设备生产我们的第一个产品GM—CSF。随后，对上海的设备进行扩建以提高生产能力，提升产品质量以符合国际制药标准。这些产品的初期销售地是中国、东南亚、印度和欧洲。
　　长期的策略是在5-6年的时间里，在分布于中国欧洲和东南亚的工厂，按照国际制药标准把全部7种产品都投入生产和销售，这正好与这类产品在欧洲市场的专利期限时间一致。这就能使GeneMedix在未来能迅速满足整个欧洲市场的需求。

Reliance GeneMedix Plc. is a UK and Ireland based, globally focused biopharmaceutical company and part of the Reliance Life Sciences Group, based in India. Reliance GeneMedix specialises in the development and manufacture of cost-effective treatments for some of the world's most serious diseases. Reliance GeneMedix, incorporated in the UK, operates out of Tullamore, Ireland.
The strategy of Reliance GeneMedix is to work towards the development of a portfolio of recombinant therapeutic proteins. Its current focus is on developing and marketing biosimilars in European markets.
