Thar Instruments began in 2007 as a spin–off of Thar Technologies which was founded in 1990 by Dr. Lalit Chordia.
The goal of helping chemists become more productive by providing them with products that eliminate repetitive, time–consuming tasks. At the time, Thar Instruments was developing ion chromatography (IC), an innovative analytical technique that enabled chemists to quickly separate, isolate, and identify ionic components of chemical mixtures. Since then, the scope of Thar Instruments technology has expanded to include a broad range of techniques, including IC, high–performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) including capillary and nano LC, accelerated solvent extraction (ASE), automation, and on–line process analysis.
To maintain the highest possible level of safety, Thar Instruments has established safety standards for every phase of our operation. All Thar Instruments products are designed, developed, and manufactured under with the ASME pressure code in mind. We also encourage customer comments on their everyday practices and look to caution customers who are not using true SFC columns or other non–pressure tested components from outside vendors.
Technology: Cultivating an environment of creativity and cooperation since the merger. Innovation and safety have made Thar the undisputed leader in the green separations industry. After merging with Berger, Thar became much stronger because of the high level of specialized SFC/HPLC/GC knowledge gained from the new team in Newark, DE. Research continues at a rapid pace in the former Berger facility while development and engineering continues in Pittsburgh. Our expertise allows us to work closely with chemists in the pharmaceutical industry and customer satisfaction is the foundation for our continued growth and technological edge.
Green Chromatography: Meeting a growing need 
As more chemists use our products, the range of customer needs expands as does our technical, service and technical support staff. While some business or finance people may call them "overhead", Thar takes pride in providing Regional Technical Support (RTS) team members around the globe to help our customers at no charge. The RTS´ give seminars, provide training, offer a helping hand in a difficult separation in person or offer sound advice over the phone. Our customers include most of the world's largest R&D companies, government agencies, research institutions, and universities. All 15 of the largest pharma and biopharma companies use TharSFC™ products everyday.
